System permission list for Epson View (Android)

Epson View (Android) requires system permission in order to use various functions.

The system permissions used in this application and their main purpose of use are as follows and will not be used for purposes other than the stated purpose.

■ Storage

  • – modify or delete contents of your SD card
  • – read the contents of your SD card
  • Purpose of use:

    • It is used for editing and saving image data when posting to Instagram.

■ Your location

  • – approximate (network-based) location
  • – precise (GPS)
  • Purpose of use:

    • It is used to scan watches in the surroundings.
      Since Android 6.0 and later, there are some Bluetooth devices that send location information, so the location information authority is required to use Bluetooth. Location information will not be transferred to Epson’s server or saved.

■ Contacts

  • – read your contacts
  • Purpose of use:

    • Some watches are used to notify the name of the caller from the phone number. Contact information will not be forwarded to Epson’s server or saved.

■ Phone

  • – read phone status and identity
  • Purpose of use:

    • It is used to notify the watch of call arrival, termination, and missed call in the incoming notification function. Call information will not be transferred or saved to Epson’s server.

■ Other app capabilities

  • – view network connections
  • Purpose of use:

    • It is used for confirming the connection when using the function requiring network connection.

  • – view Wi-Fi connections
  • Purpose of use:

    • It is used by the external plugin used in Epson View.

  • – pair with Bluetooth devices
  • – Bluetooth administration
  • Purpose of use:

    • It is used for Bluetooth communication with list equipment, reading of paired device information, and turning on Bluetooth function.

  • – full network access
  • Purpose of use:

    • Data such as workout data, activity amount data, profile information, etc. obtained from the watch are used to link with the server.

  • – prevent phone from sleeping
  • Purpose of use:

    • It is used to complete communication processing when exiting the application while communicating with the watch.

  • – run at startup
  • Purpose of use:

    • It is used to start the communication service of this application when the smartphone is started.
